Message by Jered Gruber When the K-Mart Classic of West Virginia stormed through the state in the mid-90s, it opened awareness as to just how great the bike riding is in this once hidden jewel. I’ve ridden all over the US and Europe at this point, but in my experience, some of the best riding in the world can be found in the hills and hollers near Spencer, West Virginia.

Top Rides: Gran Canaria’s Valley Of The Tears
Message by NONE Gran Canaria, situated off of the west coast of Africa, is not one of the worlds best known riding destinations. When compared to the Alps, Pyrenees and Dolomites it is often over looked. With a highest point of almost 2,000 metres, massively varied terrain, smooth roads and great weather all year round, it has much to offer a cyclist....
San Sebastian Preview: Pride of The Basque Country
Message by NONE The Basque Country is characterized by two simple facts: remarkably beautiful landscape and incredibly delicious food. The simplicity of exploring the landscape – from stunning coastal roads to deserted mountainscapes – by bicycle and experiencing the pleasures of eating that is beyond an art form in this part of Europe,...

Comfort Rides
I love it when someone takes me out on a new ride — whether it be a trail or road route close to home, or somewhere far out of town. Adding a new place to be on my bike is always great. That said, I think there’s a good reason why, 95% (oh yes, I totally keep track my new v. old ride ratio; don’t you?) of my rides are on the same...

Leading The Way
Earlier this year, we received a call from a cyclist in Huntington, West Virginia. That cyclist, a man named Tony Patrick, had a hair-raising story to tell about his encounter with a Sheriff’s Deputy across the Ohio River in Chesapeake, Ohio. The Deputy, who was unfamiliar with Ohio law regarding cyclists, ordered Tony off the road, and when...
Keough leads UnitedHealthcare sweep of USAF Classic; Farina sprints to women’s title
By Ryan Newill A day after netting the Clarendon Cup win with new recruit Hilton Clarke , UnitedHealthcare-Maxxis showed just how deep its talent runs, sweeping the podium at the U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic in Arlington, Virginia. A wide-open course and the presence of a number of strong teams stifled any lasting escapes in the men’s race, leading...
A Path To Justice
Rory Tomasello was, by all accounts, a talented, “intensely bright” and creative young man. An aspiring actor and playwright, Tomasello was studying philosophy at De Anza College in Cupertino while he tried to figure out what to do with his life; he had already outgrown the small town confines of Morgan Hill, California, and was considering...
