Cyclists and Attraction

March 11th, 2010 admin

The truth is, what we called a “honeymoon,” many people would have called an intense five-day training camp. Hard hikes, long runs, mountain biking, and road biking. And a lot of Mexican food (we weren’t in Mexico; we both just like Mexican food). It was perfect. And I have many stories to tell. But today — because I’m still feeling all lovey-dovey — I’m going to talk about the oddities I’ve recently learned about when cyclists make a love connection. Attire If you ride a bike for enough years, …

How to Introduce Yourself to Other Cyclists
How to Introduce Yourself to Other Cyclists
As a beloved, Bloggie hall-of-fame-winning, and very influential blogger , it is now very rare for me to go riding without being accosted by other cyclists. Many of them (you) simply want a signed 8 x 10 photograph, and for that purpose I now always ride wearing a Camelbak HAWG filled with an assortment of photos of me in different outfits and...

A Note from Fatty: I know I promised to talk about the wetsuit vs. no wetsuit experiment today, but my mind’s on Moab. Tomorrow is Kenny’s annual Ride Around White Rim in One Day (RAWROD) group ride. It is easily one of the top rides of the year. A largeish group of people, riding around the White Rim, at an easy pace. If it’s...
Comfort Rides
I love it when someone takes me out on a new ride — whether it be a trail or road route close to home, or somewhere far out of town. Adding a new place to be on my bike is always great. That said, I think there’s a good reason why, 95% (oh yes, I totally keep track my new v. old ride ratio; don’t you?) of my rides are on the same...

Amstel 10: A Belgian Eruption On Dutch Soil!
Message by Gordan Cameron Weve heard plenty about Fabian Cancellaras monumental domination of the cobbled Classics, but weve heard as much about the need for other teams and riders to step up as the short, sharp, shock climbs of the Ardennes rear into view. One team in particular had been getting a hard time, but today they put things right in style!  Read More →
How to Get Lance Armstrong on Your Radio Show (LIVEBLOG)
Okay. I got about three hours of sleep last night — parenting stuff — and so I am not feeling particularly funny today. I am, however, feeling like writing something. So I’m going to write about this ridiculous Tony Kornheiser, who yesterday used his radio show to urge people to get in their cars and run over cyclists . I got a...
PEZ Rides The PAV: Ouch!
Message by Richard Pestes It was a day of historic and epic proportions. Weve journeyed far, across continents, oceans, and the toughest roads in Europe, to arrive at the route for Sundays Hell of the North Paris-Roubaix. Me and my butt found out first hand what its like to ride the pav.  Read More →
Ode to Chocolate Milk On A Calm Winter Morning
Ode to Chocolate Milk On A Calm Winter Morning
A Word of Explanation from Fatty : As a deep-thinking and high-minded person, I sometimes write an ode to important foods. I have, for example, written an ode to scrambled eggs . And to the Seven Perfect Foods . But I only write poetry when my heart overflows. When there is a food that truly matters. In the past, I have published only one other...
Issue 149 Places to Ride: Northern Georgia
Apples don’t cross my mind, nor does mountain biking, but perhaps they should. Tons of apples grow throughout the region and mountain biking is a staple of life here.  Read More →
