Message by Alastair Hamilton Race Report: The San Sebastin Classic is always a nail bitter of a race with many changes in the run in to its sea-side finish, but this year it has been made much harder with two extra climbs of the Arkale and the much feared Jaizkabel. The Tour stars were on the start line and the cream came to the top for  Read More →

Message by Edmond Hood Roadside Report: ‘Did you think it was a good Tour?’ asks Vik. I knew it was a leading question, but went along with it, ‘yes, a good Tour.’ ‘It was pathetic! I sat and watched it for three hours every day for three weeks. Menchov should have won; it was totally de-sanitized – crashes are part of bike racing. I suppose there’ll be no Paris-Roubaix next year – it’s too dangerous?’  Read More →

Message by NONE The Basque Country is characterized by two simple facts: remarkably beautiful landscape and incredibly delicious food. The simplicity of exploring the landscape – from stunning coastal roads to deserted mountainscapes – by bicycle and experiencing the pleasures of eating that is beyond an art form in this part of Europe, is to fully indulge in this Hedonist’s playground that is determined to remain true to its cultural...

Message by Gordan Cameron Gord’s Roadside Wrap: Its always a weird, exhausting, exhilarating experience following the Tour de France, and it takes days before you emerge, blinking in the daylight of real life, from the mayhem of driving, chasing, writing. Then you start to look back. You start to scan through the photos that didnt make the stories; the ideas that you didnt use; the things that just didnt fit at the time.  Read More →

Message by Edmond Hood At last year’s Paris-Nice I asked Cervelo (now Raleigh) man Dan Fleeman who was impressing. The answer was surprising, none of the ‘heads’ were mentioned, rather a man of whom Dan said, ‘I’ve never seen anyone chase like that, he just sat there on the front and rode and rode!’ Who was Dan talking about? None other than Team Sky’s Michael Barry.  Read More →

Message by Gordan Cameron Roadside Report: On last Mondays repos in Morzine, Pez got a very special opportunity. As things were marginally more relaxed than normal, we got to push the swing door open on the Cervelo Test Team kitchen to catch a few moments with their chef extraordinaire Willy Balmat, a man who could fill a library shelf of books with his own stories of an incredible career involved in the sport…  Read More →

Message by Josh Horowitz Why spend months preparing for an event when all you really need is a few weeks? The reason unfortunately is that it takes more than 3 weeks to create significant fitness improvements, but what if you dont have months? Can any positive change be made in a shorter period of time and if so, what is the shortest possible time frame?  Read More →

Message by NONE Analysis St.20: It goes without saying that winning the Tour de France is very difficult, both physically and mentally. The winning margin can also have an impact on the amount of physical and emotional stress a rider experiences. The smaller your advantage over the man in second place, the more stressful the race becomes.  Read More →

Message by Gordan Cameron Race Report: Those controversial seconds, those 39 little clicks of the second hand, have given us the fourth smallest winning margin in Tour de France history – Alberto Contador has been involved in two of those races. El Pistolero likes to keep things exciting! Berties safe in yellow today, but theres still the points classification to sort out, and the honor  Read More →

Message by Edmond Hood Roadside St.19 The French radio car tries to muscle Dave off the wheel, but Daves ridden too many road races to let that happen and we tuck back in alongside the Sky team car. Stage 19, Tour de France 2010, a 52 kilometre time trial from Bordeaux to Pauillac and PEZ is on the wheel of one of the fastest men in the world  Read More →

Message by NONE Analysis St. 19: Perhaps more than usual, the weather played a significant role in this years Tour. Today it was the wind that led to some unusual results in the final time trial. Normally, the standings for the final individual time trial of the Tour feature time trial specialists and top-10 finishers in the overall classification. But today most of the men fighting for positions on the podium finished minutes behind stage winner...

Message by Alastair Hamilton Race Report: Many would say that Alberto Contador had this Tour in the bag, he did not know how much work Andy Schleck had done on his solo riding against the clock. Contador got a fright early on with a 5 second deficit, but he came through in the end…it was close!  Read More →
